Social Skills Groups

Following Michelle Garcia Winner's Think Social curriculum, The Swain Center offers social skills groups for school-aged children ages 4-7 and 8-14. Older school-aged children are considered on an individual basis. The groups are limited to 4-6 participants and scheduled once weekly for 90 minutes for 16 weeks. Monthly Aphasia Support Group

at The Swain Center

The Aphasia Support Group meets the last Thursday of each month, unless otherwise specified, at The Swain Center in Santa Rosa from 1:30-2:30 p.m.

The Swain Center is pleased to announce the resumption of our monthly Aphasia (stroke) support group.

For those of you who may have previously been aware of this support group, The Swain Center staff would like to cordially remind you of some of the many benefits which are available to participants in this support group.

• Social verbal interaction with fellow stroke survivors and peers.
• Opportunities to increase functional communication in a relaxed social setting
• Increased social pragmatic skills
• Opportunities to implement and continue learning strategies for developing social communication
• Access to resources, home therapy ideas, and professional and family education.

In addition, counseling and support are provided in a nurturing safe environment. Group activities are geared toward the group's interests and are designed to be enjoyable and implement humor while targeting individual recovery. The Aphasia Support group meets the last Thursday of each month from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. The Swain Center is located at 795 Farmers Lane, Suite 23, in Santa Rosa.
