Cogmed Working Memory Training

Cogmed Working Memory Training is a fundamental cognitive training intervention that can deliver substantial and lasting benefits for preschool children, school-aged children, adolescents, adults and seniors. Cogmed is based on peer-reviewed, published research by leading cognitive scientists and offered to individuals who may be experiencing attention and working memory weaknesses resulting in inattention, poor organization, difficulty with sequential direction and poor academic achievement.

Cogmed training is endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics and is propelled by the concept of neuroplasticity, the notion that an individual’s brain can reorganize itself and change.

Cogmed has been scientifically proven to improve:

Scientists report improved:

  • attention
  • impulse control
  • complex reasoning
  • academic performance
  • working memory

Parents report improved:

  • communication skills
  • focus and attention
  • maturity
  • taking of initiative

Teachers report:

  • the student is calmer
  • the student concentrates more/sustains attention for longer periods of time
  • the student performs better on academic tasks
  • the student show greater interest in school work

Users say:

  • better concentration at school or work
  • better performance on exams
  • better memory generally and/or specifically
  • they do not forget things as easily
  • they are less restless

Cogmed is is a home-based computerized program that offers cognitive exercises that have been developed by neuroscientists to target working memory function that has been proven to be fundamental to executive function and attention and builds on the breakthrough insight that working memory can be trained and improved.

Cogmed includes:

  • An initial evaluation/consultation
  • A start-up session
  • 5 weeks of training from home: 5 days a week
  • Weekly coaching calls/consultations
  • A post-training consultation
  • A 6-month follow-up consultation
  • Access to the Cogmed training web
  • Cogmed extension program (12 months)
